The book I am presently reading has a section in it about the Black Plague. In it it states the year/years that the Plague reached the different countries/areas of Europe. It gives 1350 as the year that it reached the Scandinavian Countries. I have a short book written by the daughter of my g-grandmother's sister. In it she as written down stories her mother has told her about growing up in Norway and in one of the stories there is reference to the Black Plague as told by my g-grandmother's mother Raghnild. The year she says the Black Plague reached Norway was 1349. An excerpt of what she told her children is found in the picture.

Our first president George Washington was in office from 1789 to 1797. The following is a list of some of my male adult ancestors who were living in the United States at that time.

John Meader (9th great grandfather) and his son John (8th great grandfather) who were living in New Hampshire.

John Fish (6th great grandfather) and his son Asa (5th great grandfather) who were living in Eastern Pennsylvania.

Hercules Young (6th great grandfather) and his son James (5th great grandfather) who were living in Western Pennsylvania.

David Archer (6th great grandfather) and his son Bezaleel Archer (5th great grandfather) who were living in Western New York.

Elisha Scribner (5th great grandfather) who was living in Eastern New York. # I have no definite proof this is correct other than he is the most logical choice that I have found for the Scribner line.

Samuel Edwards (4th great grandfather) who was living somewhere in New York.

The picture shows information about Hercules and James Young's farms in the 1780's.

My gg-grandparents, Lars Gudbrandson Haselhaugen and Ragnhild Gudbrandsdatter Haselhaugen, met as young adults while he was working on the Haselhaugen farm which was part of the larger main farm of Hallingby. Lars was sent from his home farm of Bergsunlia to work with his uncle at the Haselhaugen farm when he was in his teens. I have the year he went as around 1836. Ragnhild was sent from her home, the Finneplassen farm, to be a house servant for the wealthier Hallingby family. When Lars uncle died he became the owner of the Haselhaugen farm but still a servant to the Hallingby family. Lars and Ragnhild were married in 1846. The map shows the location of the three farms. The Haselhaugen farm is part of the Hallingsby farm, the circle is the location of the Bergsunlia farm, and the number 1 is the location of the Finneplassen farm.

This is a blog about my ancestors.
