Here is an example of how our ancestors did their best to make life confusing for any of their genealogy descendents. My gggg-grandfather, Evan Young, married Elizabeth Carson in 1817 in Fallowfield Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania. Evan had a brother by the name of James (which is also his father, my ggggg-grandfather's, name). James also married an Elizabeth Carson from another family in 1817 also in Fallowfield Township. One of the Elizabeths died in 1868 and the other in 1868 or 1869.

I just received my Grandmother's Family Bible, and it contains family records for several of the names that you mention. Among these is Evan and Elizabeth Young, John & Mary CB Young, and quite a few more. I am still going through the information, but wanted to let you know, so I wouldn't forget.

I am sure the man on the far right in the family portrait you posted of John and Mary Young of Polk Co., IA is Alva Parker Young. I have photos of him from the 1930s and am sure it's the same man. Do you know what year this photo was taken? I'm trying to place the woman next to Alva. Seeing she is quite a bit taller than Emma and the other woman if she is another sister. I'm wondering if it is Ada Cottrell, Alva's first wife. Alva and Ada married in 1891 and she died about 1904 or 1905. My email is cms620@gmail.com and if you email me I will send you photos of Alva that I have. I am also interested in what Jeff had in his Bible. Nice blog, can't believe it never came up in my searches for Alva before tonight.

I am Roger Clarence Edwards, Jr. My g-grandfather, grandfather, and father lived in Emetsburg Iowa. Can you help me find info on them? My g-grandfather was from Norway. roger@whoisrogeredwards.com

If I've got this right, James Young 1790-1830 is by gggg grandfather. Your post of about to "James Young + Elizabeth Carson" marriages is very interesting! I'm going to poke around at your data. Thanks :)

Feel free to contact me.
