Here is an example of how our ancestors did their best to make life confusing for any of their genealogy descendents. My gggg-grandfather, Evan Young, married Elizabeth Carson in 1817 in Fallowfield Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania. Evan had a brother by the name of James (which is also his father, my ggggg-grandfather's, name). James also married an Elizabeth Carson from another family in 1817 also in Fallowfield Township. One of the Elizabeths died in 1868 and the other in 1868 or 1869.
In 1855 Abner Fish (my gggg-grandfather) and his family along with my ggg-grandparents (Joseph and Beulah Fish Weinhart) traveled from Monroe County, Pennsylvania to Dallas County, Iowa. According to a statement Beulah made at her 90th birthday party they traveled to Davenport, Iowa by train and by wagon to Dallas County. The map shows the railroad system for the northern part of the United States in 1855. According to this the only route to Davenport was through Chicago.
