In the last half of the 1850's sentiments were high on both sides of the North/South/Slavery issue. The article in the picture is from a newspaper article published in Tipton, Indiana in 1858. The newspaper was a Republican newspaper meaning it was pro-North and anti-Slavery. My ggg-grandfather John S. Young was living in Tipton county at this time and would have read it along with political articles published in Democratic newspapers which would have been pro-South and pro-Slavery. It would be interesting to know what his feelings would have been on this issue.  ¶ 11:33 AM
