Here is another picture of my ggg-grandparents John and Mary Young (they are the ones sitting). Directly behind them are my gg-grandparents Emma (John and Mary's daughter) and her husband John Edward Meader. I am assuming that the other two couples in the picture are also two of John and Mary's children along with their spouses. I have pictures of two of their daughters Sarah Elizabeth Young Pitt and Etta M. Young Case and I am sure that neither of the two are in the picture. That leaves three children, Charles H. Young, Alva Parker Young, and Mary (Margaret) Alcey Clayton, as possibilities.
This is a picture of my ggg-grandparents John Sargood Young and his wife Mary Burgess Carson Young. He was born in Ohio in 1824 and she was born in Indiana in 1825. They were cousins. Their fathers were brothers. The picture was most likely taken in the city of Mitchellville, Iowa where they spent the last thirty years or so of their life. He died in 1916 and she died in 1917.
According to this article my gg-grandfather Markus Anderson Dyrdal who was in born 1790, died in 1855 and lived his entire life on the Dyrdal farm in Hoyanger, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway was a soldier from 1807 - 1814 and fought in the Norwegian - Swedish War of 1814. If my dictionary Norwegian is correct he killed a Swedish soldier with a bayonet which later was placed in the Sogn Folk Museum.
