This is a picture of the Dyrdal farm. It is overlooks the Sognefjord in Norway. This is the farm where my g-grandfather Sjur Markusson was born and raised. He was born there in 1827. His father was also born there as well as his father and his father. Sjur left the farm in 1854 to come to America with his older brother Lars. They ended up in Goodhue County, Minnesota. ¶ 9:37 AM

Hello! I am a decendant of Sjur Markuson...he is my gg-grandfather! I have been researching my geneology, and cam across your blog. Wow! Amazing information! If you are still active in geneology and would like to discuss the history of the Sjur Markuson family, please contact me at the email below. My father, Joseph Markuson, is the son of Martin S. Markuson, who is the son of Sjur Markuson. I am fascinated with the history of the family, and still have a living Aunt who is 92 and still remembers her Aunts and Uncles, and the Norwegian language her father (Martin S. Markuson) spoke.
