Sometimes a genealogist gets wrapped up with just names, dates, and locations and they forget that the person or persons they are researching would have had experienced a tremendous amount of history during their lifetime. For example. Lorenzo Dow Weinhart was born in 1855 in Adel County, Iowa, lived much of his life in Ankeny, Iowa and died in 1959 in California. He was married twice and had six daughters, three by each wife. But in his lifetime he lived through a Civil War, two World Wars, presidents from Lincoln through Eisenhower, the famous (i.e. Babe Ruth) and the infamous (i.e Jesse James), a great depression, an untold number of inventions, the dropping of the Atomic bomb, and to finish all this off he appeared as a guest on a television show in the late 1950's. This was the Art Linkletter show. In the picture is a poem that he wrote.
