My g-grandfather Sjur (Sever) Markuson immigrated to the United States in 1854 with his brother Lars. As far as I know they had no other siblings come to America. They did have nephews and nieces and a sister-in-law come over later on. They all lived within visiting distance from Sjur's farm. In 1871 Nels (Nils) Anderson Dyrdal came over and settled on a farm in Rice county, Minnesota which would be about three-five miles away from Sjur's farm. A year later his brother Berg and their financees/wifes made the trip over. They were Sjur's older brother Anders's sons. Another brother of Sjur's was Ole. He married and farmed in Norway. In 1878 his wife Kari and her children immigrated and settled in Dodge County, Minnesota. I estimate this was about 20-30 miles away from Sjur's farm. The picture is of Ole Olson and his family. He is one of Kari's and Ole's sons. At the time of the picture he was living in Kingsbury County, South Dakota. He would be Sjur's nephew.
