The picture shows part of a 1909 plat map of Grainfield Township, Towner County, North Dakota. My gg-grandfather Asle Lien homesteaded a farm in section 34 during the early 1890's before he lost it because he couldn't pay his mortgage. When Asle received his final naturalization papers in 1892 one of his witnesses was Nels Sorenson. In section 15 is the farm of Nels Sorenson (spelled Sarenson on the map).  ¶ 12:35 PM
